ABOUT The Established in 1983 through a collaboration between the Malaysian government and several Islamic countries, the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has become a landmark in higher education, integrating modern knowledge with Islamic values. IIUM was inaugurated through a charter signed by representatives of the Malaysian government and member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), embedding Islamic values in all disciplines. Student admissions include individuals from various races and nations, especially of the Muslim faith. The first IIUM campus was in Petaling Jaya and later moved to Gombak, Selangor. IIUM has expanded with additional campuses, including the Medical Campus in Kuantan, Pahang, the Centre for Foundation Studies in Gambang, Pahang, the ISTAC campus in Kuala Lumpur, and the Pagoh campus in Johor. Each IIUM campus contributes to the university's mission of integrating modern knowledge with Islamic values, preparing students to become professional and competitive. The philosophy of IIUM was inspired by recommendations made at the First World Conference on Muslim Education in Makkah in 1398H (1977). IIUM's mission is articulated into four main aspects: Integration, Islamization, Internationalization, and Comprehensive Excellence. These pillars guide the university's efforts to create an environment where modern education and Islamic values coexist and thrive, preparing students for professional success while instilling a strong ethical foundation, ensuring they become responsible and contributing global citizens. The presence of students from diverse races and countries practicing different cultures reflects IIUM's commitment to internationalization and unity among Muslims and the global community. This diversity not only enriches the learning experience on campus but also creates a dynamic and inclusive international atmosphere where students can learn and appreciate diverse cultural and religious perspectives. 24
