IIUM Press | Annual Report 2020 _______________________________________________________________________________________ 18 World Book Capital City Sharjah, UAE, hand over the mantle of World Book Capital City to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia namely Kuala Lumpur World Book Capital 2020 (KLWBC2020). In 2020, IIUM Press has taking initiative to be part of the Committee and collaboration partner for KLWBC2020 with MAPIM, MABOPA, DBP, Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in scheduling many of book activities. Unfortunately, KL’s programme was severely disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to that, many of the activity has been done through online webinar. Tbilisi in Georgia will be the next World Book Capital City from 23 April 2021, and UNESCO recently announced that Guadalajara would be the 2022 Capital.
