Dr. Robert Crane wrote a paper on Creeping Shari’ah and Galloping Secularism: The Mimetic War between Perennialist Ontology and secularist Epistemology in the Arab Spring and the Global Awakening: Part 1, Jurisprudential Metaphysics: Posing the Problem on July 2, 2012. IIUM reached out to Dr. Crane on awarding him the Honorary Doctorate in 2020. Due to COVID 19 pandemic, the conferment ceremony was postponed. The university was saddened by the news of his passing on the 12th December 2021, at the age of 92. We wished he could be here to share with us his wisdom with more dialogues on Islam and his views of piece and justice. May Allah bless him with Jannah.
