The Gombak campus offers a complete range of facilities including on-campus residential facilities and staff housing, the main masjid at its centre, two state-of-the-art sports complexes with Olympic-sized swimming pools, a fully equipped library with more than two million printed and digital materials supported by online databases, a medical clinic, convenience stores, a post office and three Malaysian commercial banks. The other campuses are located in Kuantan, Kuala Lumpur, Gambang and Pagoh. With land area of 1,000 acres and surrounded by greeneries, the Kuantan campus houses the Kulliyyah of Medicine, Kulliyyah of Science, Kulliyyah of Pharmacy, Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences, Kulliyyah of Nursing and Kulliyyah of Dentistry. The IIUM Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) is located in Gambang, Pahang. As for the Kuala Lumpur Campus at Persiaran Duta, the campus houses the International Institute of Islamic Civilisation and Malay World (ISTAC). Meanwhile, the Kulliyah of LanguageManagent is housed in the IIUM Campus located at Pagoh Education Hub in the state of Johor. Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre (SASMEC@IIUM) is a medical centre managed by IIUM that has been recognized as a fully shariah-compliant medical centre and has been awarded with MS 1900 : 2014 Certification : Shariah -Based Quality Management. The medical centre is equipped with 300 bed facilities, ICU, specialist clinics and is one of the medical centres with the latest technology in the East Coast region. Based on 2022 statistics, the IIUM student population on campus is 22,814 students from 76 countries. To date, IIUM has produced 108,969 alumni comprising of 92,108 Malaysians and 15,434 international students. International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is the manifestation of one of the major aspirations of Muslim scholars in Malaysia to have an Islamic university in the country in order to lead the ummah in all branches of knowledge. The plan to establish IIUM was revealed by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia, on 12 th January 1982 after deliberating with the Education Minister, senior government officers and senior academics from local universities of that time. The university was officially established on 20 May 1983 by the Government of Malaysia. IIUM was founded under the Companies Act 1965 that enables it to use English and Arabic as the medium of instruction, this enhances its orientation as a global university. IIUM integrates Islamic values and worldview into its humanities, scientific and technical curriculum, befitting the university’s slogan “The Garden of Knowledge and Virtue”. This is reflected in IIUM’s educational philosophy and logo. IIUM aspires to restore the roles of Muslims in the field of education, exploration and creation of knowledge that will contribute toward the improvement of humankind quality of life. To ensure the delivery of high-quality education, IIUM pooled together successful academicians and committed professionals in their team. In addition to academic excellence, IIUM ensures that students are trained to be professional and responsible individuals with high morals and values. In addition to academic excellence, lifelong education, management and entrepreneurial skills as well as leadership skills are also emphasized. IIUM also stresses on the development of good ethics or ‘budi’ as part of its education process to ensure students possess good character. This is in line with Islamic teachings that emphasizes the development of a good personality. IIUM has several campuses that spread across different states of Malaysia, each providing specific fields of study.
